This is my first season with BODSAA, I enjoy fishing for Sea Trout at night and was wondering if members who know the water could point me in the direction of beats most likely to hold Sea Trout suitable for night fishing.
Cheers. Derek.

Funny that you just asked that question - I'm in the same boat (first year as a member) and I too am interested in the possibility of the night fly on BODSAA waters. I've heard that the sea trout 'disappear' into the Dee once past Chester and as not many folks fish for them, not many get caught.
I (and I'm sure Derek) would be very grateful in getting a steer to beats/pools to try - PM would be better,as not public then. Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Tim
Hi Billy, I have heard that quite a few fish are caught during the daytime and that your the guy to catch them, I look forward to catching a few myself. Its just the magic and mystique of catching them at night that always draws me to fishing in the dark for them. If I have any luck at night I will drop you and Tim a PM and let you know how I got on. Cheers Derek.
i di catch them in the daytime mate but i would sooner catch them at night if your going out at night send me a pm i will pop along with you billy

Hello Billy, I am fishing the River Lune on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night this week. Next week would suit me better for the Dee subject to water height of course. I have checked the long term weather forecast and there appears to be no rain due. How would next Friday evening 10/06/11 suit you? I will bring the Kelly Kettle and a good supply of biscuits
that will be fine mate im in the albert they have got stretches on the lune i believe
hast to be thurs day night for me geoof im away sat and sun billy
Hello Billy,

Well done Billy. I am thinking of doing a few hours tonight, do you have any tips for me?
Derek.
tails of the pools dereck i fished an intermediete line 12 lb mono black fly on the tip and a teal blue and silver on the dropper in the fast water and let it hang there for five mins then retrieve slowly billy
Thanks Billy, I will let you know how I get on.
Derek.
Billy - I've sent you a PM about Sat night,if you're planning to go after the sewin again.
Tim
Hi Billy,
Only managed one last night it was around the 1lb mark, took a Teal Blue and Silver on the dropper.. Very quiet with no sign of fish moving at all. Just have to keep at it.
Derek.
well done dereck it looks like we mighthave some water on the way at last
I tried night fly Sat night at Pickhill.Went down Georges run and into the Big Pool a few times.Heard one fish jump but no offers. It was bloomin cold though (4 deg C air temp) and lots of mist coming off the fields.Didn't help that I found a leak in my waders at just below groin height - very wet right leg! Keep us informed how you're all doing. Tim
bloody hell tim you will end up witha cold willl keep you up to date mate im out monday night
That bit of rain brought the river up around 9 inches, reaching its max at about 1030 this morning (Monday). Much warmer, too, and warmer nights forcast so it should be great - apart from the wind; God how I hate wind at night! Really should muster a bit of energy and get out fishing. Might try this evening if the wind drops at dusk.
i am fishing saterday night and sunday night if anybody fancies it my last outings this year as i am having a new knee tuesday that will put an end to it for me i suppose billy
Best of luck Billy, let me know how you get on. I would of liked to have fished a couple of nights with you but I have just had a hernia operation and will be out of the game for four to six weeks, maybe next season. Tight Lines, Derek.
look forward to that derick maybe see in six weeks time hopefully i will ok as well by then billy
hi derick i fished for the seatrout at nightime concluisvely three years ago and ended up with thirteen they are bloody hard to find mate ,i have had many more in the daytime my own theory is that they dont stop in our beats but run up the tribuitres if you want to fish the river at night i will get out with you but i have found in the past that july is the best month regards billy just remeber that the dee is not your usuall seatrout river and is far longer than most rivers
