George Wallace

Tuesday 22nd September:

It's suddenly gone a bit autumnal with showers, sunny intervals, gusts of wind and leaves starting to blow around, but the river looks great and at 1800 hrs this evening the level on the board at Dukes showed six and a half inches above Summer low while the gauge at Manley Hall said it was three and a half inches.

Plenty of reports of grayling with one or two really good fish landed but very few sea-trout seem to be being caught even though the river is full of them. Maybe it's just that no-one is telling me? Perhaps the cooler conditions and the drop of fresh water will encourage them.
