​​​VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR TUESDAY 6TH EVENING. PLEASE SEE FORUM FOR DETAILS. This is in addition to the work party already scheduled for 11th August, this time on a Sunday for the benefit of those members who are unavailable on Saturdays. Please see the Forum for details of time and location.  We hope that this time we will have better support from the membership.  The last event attracted NO VOLUNTEERS beyond the Committee and the previous event only one volunteer.  If you want to avoid our banks becoming impenetrable jungle then come and help us at least once. We don't need huge numbers each time, just half a dozen people willing to do put in a couple of hours work. 

We are organising another work party for Saturday 27th of July. We only had one volunteer for the last work party, which is a very poor show. A few more people would make a big difference and allow us to tackle a lot more areas so please try and come along and help. Thank you very much Erwan for your help last time.

The plan is to meet at The Royal Oak, Bangor-on-Dee at 9.45am for a brief and then head to one of the beats for much-needed bank clearance and path cutting. Any members wishing to attend must have filled in the volunteer agreement form on line prior to the work party. (This only needs to be done once as long as your membership remains current).

It is strongly advised that you wear long sleeves and trousers. There will be plenty of killer nettles, thistles, hogweed and horse flies to contend with. Please bring food, drink sun cream and bug spray if you have some.

We have strimmers and saws available to use with appropriate PPE. If you don't want to use these, there will be plenty of balsam to pull up, pruning to do and you can bring any of your own tools/implements you may want to use.

Sparing just an hour or two would be a big help for the club and less able bodied members and you may find a new favourite place to fish.

Following a successful work party at Sutton Green on 29th June (again, many thanks to those members who participated), our River Manager, Matt Klimaszwski, is seeking volunteers for the next work party on Saturday 13th July. The Committee would like to express their gratitude to the members who, despite an ominous weather forecast, joined our River Manager, Matt Klimaszewski, for yesterday's work party at Sutton Green, namely Paul Nevins, John Tennant, Simon Kilshaw, Jamie Grice and Buddy Budryk. Luckily for us the rain held off and we were able to clear entry and exit points to a number of pools as well as a good length of path between pools and a huge amount of willow obstructing one of the prime pools. We hope to see them, and more of you, again at future work parties.

All members please take note. We have a very unhappy farmer at Old Lower Hall.  A gate has been left open this week. This has let cattle into fields they shouldn't be in and the farmer has had to spend valuable time separating the two herds that got mixed up. Not an easy job! Luckily they didn't get into crop fields too.

Please take extra care to shut gates properly once you are through them.

We need to keep our landlords happy or we risk losing our waters.
