Please note that the AGM is in the hall immediately behind St Dunawd Church, just off Overton Road.  It's NOT in the Village Institute at the other end of the Village.

A reminder to all paid-up members that the AGM will be held on Friday 3rd March at Bangor on Dee village hall.  Doors open at 6.30pm for a 7.00pm start. A buffet will be laid on. After such a long time we hope to see lots of you there!

If you wish to see the minutes from the last AGM (2019) you can find them on page 5 of the members forum (posted December 2019).

We still urgently need a  volunteer for the Treasurer's position. The only member who responded to the earlier request has unfortunately had to withdraw due to ill health. Please come forward if you are able to give up a few hours per month. You will be supported by a bookkeeper and accountant.

Our Membership Secretary, Ben Disch, is still working hard to ensure that all remaining members who want to renew are able to do so before the 31st January deadline. If you want to renew by post please check your emails, including junk and spam, for a very recent message from Ben which includes a postal renewal form. If you don't have the email but need the form please tell us immediately via the "Contact Us" button.

Happy New Year and thank you to all those members who have renewed so far. A final reminder for everyone else - if you don't renew by 31st of January you will have to pay the additional £10 joining fee. If you have tried unsuccessfully to renew via the new Clubmate system please let us know ASAP so we  can sort it for you.

And don't forget to put the AGM in your diaries on 3rd March! We're hoping for a good turnout after the enforced absence for the last couple of years.

Thank you to all those members who have completed the renewal process for 2023. For those of you who have not yet done so, a reminder that you must complete by 31st January or else you will have to pay the £10 supplement for new members. You should all have received an email today (1st January) with detailed instructions on how to renew - if you haven't seen it please check your promotions/spam/junk folders. Finally, the Committee wish you all a happy New Year and tight lines for 2023.

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Stan Adams, one of our long-standing members and a Club stalwart who passed away on Boxing Day. Stan was a BODSAA member for over 50 years, was Chairman for nearly 40 years and was well known and well respected by our membership. We  hope to find a suitable way to mark his passing after discussing with his family in the coming days.

The BODSAA Committee would like to take the opportunity to wish all members a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  We look forward to seeing you at the AGM on 5 March 2023 after the enforced break brought about by COVID.  In the meantime, membership renewals are ongoing and our new Clubmate platform seems to be performing well, with the vast majority of members electing to renew online. 

The river is currently running around 70cm above normal summer levels in Bangor and if you're venturing out over the Christmas break, please take care on the bank and remember to let a family member know where you are planning to fish.  Whilst fishing is always tricky during the winter months, there are plenty of grayling about and chub and pike for our coarse fishing members.

The last Blog post announced the planned introduction of a new software system to manage membership details. All members with email addresses should have received a message on 31st October asking for permission to copy their details from our existing records into the new system. Please reply as soon as possible so we can complete this exercise in readiness for this year's membership renewals. If you have not seen the email please check your spam and promotions boxes. Members for whom we don't have email addresses will be contacted by post in the next few days. Thank you to all those members who have already responded. 

After an extended enforced absence due to Covid restrictions we have provisionally scheduled the next AGM for March 5th 2023. The date and location will be confirmed once we have identified and booked a suitable venue. We realise this may seem a long time away but we will be using the time until then to implement a new IT system which, amongst other things, will help to reduce the significant workload in dealing with membership renewals each year. This implementation will take considerable time and effort for a number of Committee members.  We will issue a newsletter in December giving further details of the new system. 

MEMBERS WORK PARTY NOTICE

If you can spare a couple of hours to assist in clearing your clubs waters would be greatly appreciated. Even if you turn up just to help pull Balsam out, every little helps and there is no requirement to use machinery if you do not want to. It is also a great way to meet some of the clubs more experienced anglers, have a natter and learn about some of the beats.

Club has tools for the job, but if you have any tools yourself that can help, that would be a great help.

Please wear suitable footwear (sturdy boots) and clothing. We highly recommend for your protection having long sleeve tops with you and not to wear shorts.

Over recent Months at the location shown is a clay pipe whereby on a couple of occassions members have reported to me of a flow of possible pollution substance flowing out of the clay pipe into the river.

The first report was of smelly dirty flow like sewage flowing out and the most recent report was of a flow of clear water but with lots of white bits coming from pipe and flowing down river.

On both occssions this has been reported to NRW and the investigation is ongoing. I am in constant liaison with my contacts in NRW. So far no sigh of any fish, etc dead or struggling.

If any member witnesses any type of flow coming from this pipe please report it to NRW and also let me know ASAP. You can contact me via WHATS APP or leave a msg, also please, start using the incident report page on our Website if you witness/observe any incidents and suspicious activity.
